Back to BHAA Main Site ![]() Colt Blue Notes JULY 12 / ALLEGHENY NORTH PLAYOFFS: Colt Blue's season ends at hands of North Allegheny: Coupled with a weekend loss to WVR, Colt Blue's loss tonight bumps them from the playoffs and caps their season. JUNE 30 / Colt Blue falls to West View-Ross Cardinals, 5-2: Limited offense, stranded runners and untimely errors got the best of Colt Blue in this close contest. Daniel Wimer went the distance on mound, recording six strikeouts and scoring a run. Thorin Knupsky (double) and Shawn Tunstall (single) offered hits but remained stranded aboard. Justin Guerriero scored on a heads-up steal of home. Wimer, Guerriero, Tunstall and Mark Lodge collaborated mid-game to knock of a pair of WVR base thieves. Lodge, Matt Skinger, Jon Beckas, Jason Yokel and Adam Villanueva also made some respectable put-outs on defense. JUNE 3 / Colt Blue tops West View-Ross Rangers, 19-9: The long-overdue Colt Blue bats woke up tonight, including a 7-run fourth inning. The offensive barrage was led by Mark Lodge (4-for-4, 4 runs, 6 RBIs), Daniel Wimer (3-run double), Shawn Tunstall (3 runs), Justin Guerriero (3 runs), Eric Forkin (1-for-3, 2 runs), Chelsey Sirmons (1-for-2, 2 runs), Matt Skinger (single) and Eddie McWhirter (single, run). Thorin Knupsky and Jonathan Beckas also singled. Knupsky, Forkin and Lodge shared duties on the mound. MAY 24 / Colt Blue falls to Middle Road hit parade, 13-3: Colt Blue kept a hard-hitting Middle Road squad in check for three innings with three-up, three-down prowess. But Middle Road's bats exploded in the fourth and Colt Blue could not mount an offensive retort. Eddie McWhirter went 2-for-2 and Shawn Tunstall went 2-for-3. Jason Yokel made a respectable showing in his pitching debut despite defensive errors behind him, and Daniel Wimer was strong in centerfield. MAY 21 / Colt Blue edged by North Allegheny, 6-5: Errors got the best of Colt Blue this day, negating a three-run lead in the fifth. Eric Forkin and Daniel Wimer split time on the hill. MAY 6 / Colt Blue falls to Middle Road, 7-0: Colt Blue got singles from Shawn Tunstall, Thorin Knupsky, Daniel Wimer and Eddie McWhirter, but could not capitalize, stranding 12 runners throughout the night. Tunstall was also strong on the basepaths, and McWhirter had a strong defensive showing at first. APRIL 29 / Colt Blue tops West View-Ross Orioles, 9-2: Colt Blue got its season off to a strong start behind pitching from Justin Guerriero (5 innings, 4 strikeouts), a double by Shawn Tunstall, and singles by Jason Yokel, Thorin Knupsky, Eddie McWhirter and Guerriero. The whole lineup played a solid defensive game and was aggressive on the basepaths. Tunstall and Matt Skinger turned in web gems to ward off WVR rallies. |
